Contemporary Classes

Class Description

At the age of 7, in combination with a ballet class, dancers can take Contemporary/ Lyrical. We use both of these two terms terms to describe the class as they are interchangeable in the dance studio world.

Contemporary/ Lyrical dance uses a combination of ballet, jazz, and modern dance techniques. We use the body and these techniques to express the music. Contemporary and lyrical dance often use fluidity , improvisation, and abstract movement to tell a story. Contemporary movement has more freedom than classical ballet but is rooted in technical dance.
